If you want to write a captivating article for your blog, just turn on your computer and put down your thoughts, right?
No, that is not the only thing you need to do. There’s a lot more to consider when writing an article. Don’t worry though, I will take you through.
There is more to writing a stellar piece than merely letting your ideas flow onto your page. If writing was so simple, then everyone would be doing it, and I would possibly be out of business.
But what makes article writing unique?
I am an experienced writer, and it has not always been a smooth sail for me. Fortunately, there are some tricks and tips I have mastered over the years and would like to share them with you.
There is a process you need to learn and fully embrace for you to become an unstoppable writing machine.
In case you find yourself deprived of motivation and ideas, or you do not know the best article structures to use, then this post is for you.
Master the Meaning of Good Content and Good Writing Techniques
When writing on the internet, you are forced to compete against a lot of noise. Anyone with a blog can write something and post it as an article.
So how do you stand out?
If you want to write an article for your blog, don’t sweat. Good content is easy to create, and you are likely to find a lot of interesting things to talk about. The tricky business is finding that proper writing technique. This is what makes or breaks an article.
If you want to master how to write an article, remember that weak content falls flat. On the other hand, strong material carries weight, commands authority, creates a following, and changes minds.
If you are not confident enough in your writing, you can always outsource your content from professional article writers.
Select A Topic
Choosing a topic is more challenging than you may assume. Start by thinking about an interesting topic, perhaps one you can focus on for a week or two. In case it is a broad one like interior décor, you must narrow it down.
Consider writing about how to decorate a small apartment on a shoestring budget. You want to be very specific with your article because it covers a very narrow and highly focused topic.
Reduce Your Barrier to Entry
The idea is to draw in your reader with minimal effort. Nobody wants to push through a gigantic wall of text before establishing whether an article is worth reading.
But what is the trick to doing this?
Over the years I have mastered the trick of keeping my opening punchy and short.
It’s okay to start with simple and short paragraphs. By all means, use one or two-sentence leading sections. You don’t need to pack your reader with information, just to prove that your article can provide value.
One of the easiest ways to write an article that is bound to attract thousands of readers is to shorten everything. Short paragraphs and texts are visually appealing.
It is really that simple.
Let’s be honest. Dense paragraphs are not easy to read through. Smaller paragraphs are more appealing to the eye and easy to comprehend.
They are easy to digest and can keep the reader going without much effort. So, break your texts, pace with paragraphs, and create space between ideas.
Short does not mean bland or using cheapened and simple words. It means precise and strong content. Think of it like choosing a shot of tequila over a whole bottle of beer.
Which one would you prefer? As you think about that, let’s move to the next point.
If you are just learning how to write an article, the last thing you want is to spend time writing a whole piece that says nothing. This may seem like a mean thing for me to say, but don’t kill your readers with fluff.
Here is where you hit the sweet spot.
Surface-level blogs can earn you website visitors if you have a catchy Meta description or topic. However, such blogs hardly convert readers into loyal clients.
So how do you navigate through that?
Anytime you write an article for your blog, you need to ensure that it is designed to teach, convey meaning, add value, and possibly earn you money.
To get it right, imagine you are the reader of your article. Describe your audience fully so you can understand who you’re writing to. They could be young people, professionals, single ladies, etc.
Consider the needs of your audience and think about the questions they are likely to have in mind. From this point, focus on the question that your article ought to answer.
Tell a Story
Everyone loves to read a good story.
If there is one truth about humanity that cannot be denied is that people love stories. We respond to compelling stories by design!
The surest way to draw the attention of readers is to bring your article to life with flair, personality, and human interest. Recount an event, set the stage, and unfold a plot. Stories can help you creatively open articles and also illustrate a point.
You don’t need to be dazzling and excessive to tell a compelling story. If you want to introduce your readers to a specific tool, start by telling them about your user experience.
Then let them know how the tool in question added value to your life. Keep it short, simple, and to the point.
They say practice makes perfect!
You don’t just turn into an excellent writer overnight. One of the unstated rules of good writing is practice.
Practising and continually seeking to polish your skills is what will turn you into an outstanding writer. Once you internalize the structure and form of useful articles, then creating excellent pieces becomes second nature.
Useful articles have a good flow. After you have written a piece, take your time to read and revise it. Engage a supportive friend if need be and ask a series of questions.
Here are some of the questions you can ask…
Did my article cover everything about the topic? Did I miss any steps? Is there something else you think I should mention?
Use your best judgment to decide on any changes your friend suggests.
Always remember this.
The world is always hungry for compelling and meaningful content that adds value to readers. As long as you have something interesting to say, there is a soul out there that cannot wait to read your posts. So, go create something!
